Suggest Treatment For Disorientation And Difficulty In Walking

my 82 year old father had a bowel obstruction operation which went fine. The day after surgery they had him up on the side of the bed but he was terrified. Physio has come up several times to get him up now and he absolutely refuses to even try. Social worker wants to put him in a nursing home. He does have a bit of disorientation at times, but he walked in that hospital by himself and now he can't or won't walk at all. Any suggestions.
