My father is 90.He has experienced a dizzy feeling accompanied by a feeling of warmth rising from the back of his head then subsiding. These episodes usually last only seconds but some last longer and are accompanied by ringing sounds in his head.Yesterday he was about to speak when his body started jerking and his face was contorted. This lasted maybe 15 seconds and then he seemed back to normal though he could remember nothing of it.Afterwards he just said he felt a little light-headed.I d like to know what might be the cause and is there any treatment for it .Thank you.
He may be suffering from acute onset of seizures or Essential tremor or parkinsonism tremor or shivering may be due to muscle weakness.
Giddiness may be due to age related vestibular apparatus impaired function or alzheimers or BPPV or vestibular neuronitis. Where is the exact location of the problem should be evaluated by MRI brain and ECG. Use tablet vertin 8 mg thrice a day for five days. If symptoms not improved please consult with your physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
