I am not anorexic. I am 5 4 and go to the gym regularly. i also only eat whole foods. No junk food or fast food. When I was prescribed my Aderal for ADD I was 138. I was that weight because I had to take a month off of the gym due to dizzy spells. Then I ate poorly. My doctor said she didnt want me to lose any weight because I didnt need to. My usual weight is around 130lbs. She wants to see me in a month before refilling my prescription. I weigh 127 right now and have been working out all month. I am afraid she will think I should switch medication. I am afraid because this medication has helped me so much. I have begun to draw and write again. I have less fights about money with my husband because I am able to listen and communicate better. I want to try to appear to weigh more on the scale so she doesn t freak out about my weight loss.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
My thoughts and suggestions are as below. You are already on Aderal for ADD, hence the psychological condition as well as the medications can have direct effect on weight also in wither way, difficult to predict how it will work in your condition. If you are loosing weight in spite of no major changes in diet which you are taking as whole food, I think it may be severe exercises that can loose weight. Also needed is to watch for the blood picture for thyroid and diabetes or any other tests as would be required after clinical evaluation. All the efforts should be taken to find out any specific cause if present and get treated accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
