I had a dry harsh cough around 6 weeks ago, probably one of the worst I've had. Lasted 2-3weeks. Lots of hard strong coughing non-stop at times. From around the 3 week mark I started getting a sore throat and still have it now 3 weeks on. It feels like a lump in the left side of my larynx.
The most common cause for cough on a Tropical country is Tuberculosis, especially if it is more than 2 weeks. Depending on your age and place the causes vary; from a growth in your throat to reflex disease or Post nasal drip due to allergies or sinusitis. I suggest you to see physician and get these ruled out by clinical examination and other relevant labs or procedures .
