My daughter now 4 years has been complaining that her tummy hurts for 2 weeks. The last time she said this not only did she have an ear infection she had a urinary track infection. So I was afraid it was this so I took her into the ER and they said her ears and urine look good all they could tell me is she is definitely fighting something like a virus. Now I am worried it might be more serious. She complains when she first gets up several times during the day and at night before bed. She is tall and skinny on the low side of weight since birth. At first I thought the pains were hunger pains but she even complains after she eats. She gets plenty of food and water she has a really good BM once a day normal for her. Her temp is normal most of the time only hit 99.2 twice since. She hasn’t thrown up yet but I can see she is sometime close to it. My husband thinks she is playing games but he thought that last time and she was indeed sick. I am really worried. I figured I am going to make an appointment tomorrow since she hasn’t complained in the middle of the night but what can I do until her appointment to ease some of the pain. I have tried children’s pepto and IB profen and they don’t seem to work either.
As her doctor has already suggested about a possible flu attack causing the symptoms, this may be true. Pain in abdomen in children can be due to one of the following reasons: - Appendicitis - Abdominal lymph node enlargement - Intestinal worms although the BM is normal
Hence I would advise her additional things: - Ultrasound of abdomen - Tests of stool for 3 days - ENT surgeon's opinion Further management as per the clinical evaluation and reports of investigations.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
