hi. I m coming from a country where it s very hot and currently I m in a very cold country where it snows. Every time I come out of the cold into a building, I get so dizzy that I need to sit down. I went to the Pharmacy to ask for medication for middle ear infection but was referred to doctor. Any ideas?
Living in a cold country will put at risk of having ear infection due to nasal congestion. However, we should make sure there is an ear infection or just inflammation from congestion. That's why it is very important to see an ENT specialist in order to determine the right diagnosis and appropriate treatment strategy.
Plus, we should rule out other health problems such as cardiovascular issues from exposure to cold (any heart or blocked blood vessels problems). For the moment, I can only recommend to take nasal decongestant if nasal congestion is present, keep good oral and nasal hygiene; and take oral antihistamine at bedtime. Keep well hydrated. Try to avoid exposure to cold until you see your doctor.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
