Suggest Treatment For Ear Infection

I went to the doctors Wednesday because the outer part of my ear was infected, so he gave me some flucloxacillin 500 mg and some cream, three days after starting on these tablets I felt a severe pain inside of my ear and I can t sleep, chew, hardly speak, let alone hear anything from that ear it is completely blocked, it seems very swollen I don t know weather it s the tablets? Do I stop taking them the doctors is shut for the weekend so I m a little stuck on what I should do.

Regarding your query for pain in ear with impairment in hearing even after taking antibiotic for ear infection.

As you said you were already having infection in outer ear and getting treatment for it in the form of antibiotic but inspite of this there developed massive swelling that leads to severe pain and even swallowing become painful.

By your medical history it appears as your infection in ear is not under control and the possibilities are-

1- Ear canal may be having wax.

2- Otomycosis (fungal infection).

3- Acute otitis media.

No doubt your treatment is possible only after examination by ENT doctor and after proper diagnosis, but till you are waiting for ENT doctor you take-

a- Tab Paracetamol

b- Ear drop containing antibiotic + antifungal + lignocain.
