Suggest Treatment For Elevated SED And CRP Rates

I have elevated SED and CRP rates. Blood work was done after a sudden onset of severe leg pain in both legs. I have been on prednisone for 4 months. Rates have decreased some but not all the way. Pain has subsided. I am currently being weaned off medicine but I have developed 4 subcutaneous nodules, two of which are very large and discolored and are painful. My doctor is biopsy one of the nodules. He currently is guessing at polymyalgia rheumatic but I am only 47, active and no history of arthritis or joint pain.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

I have studied your case with diligence.

Yes there is possibility of rheumatoid arthritis.

Rheumatoid arthritis may involve small joints and early morning stiffness in joints, do you have such complain?
Ankylosing spondylitis typically involve spine and hips with other large joint also. There is reduced chest function in this disease. Stiffness in spine is increased do you have such stiffness in spine?

When such patients come to our hospital I advise them blood test like RA factor, ACCP, , complete blood count, HLA B27

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care
