Suggest Treatment For Enlarged Prostate And Bladder Stones
Diagnosed with enlarged prostrate causing bladder stones. Have been on medication for about 2 weeks to help shrink prostrate. 1st ct scan showed large stones. Drinking lots of water, 2nd ct scan showed stones broken up and I have been passing some when urinating. Dr. recommends surgery remove any remaining stones & part of prostrate. Concerned about after effects & which way to go. Cystolitholapaxy or surgical removal with incision in bladder. Any recommendations? Suggestions?
Hello and welcome to HCM. As an Urologist, let me make it clear, that an enlarged prostate doesn't cause bladder stones. Stones form, secondary to an enlarged prostate. TURP or endoscopic removal of the complete prostate gland ,with cysto-litholapaxy, is always a routine procedure. Surgical removal with an incision, is never done, nowadays. Age and medications taken,is needed to guide you. Ultrasound scan in place of CT,is enough. You can send a copy of your reports here, in my name ,for an expert advice.
