Suggest Treatment For Enlarged Prostate

My father is suffering from enlarged prostate and doctor suggested Tamdura and Afdura. Now my father is on CRT and doctor said to continue with it for 2 weeks. If it does not get cured, it should be operated. When should it be operated ? Cant it be cured with tablets? Plz helpl me

Thanks for query.
Your father has been diagnosed to have obstructive urinary symptoms due to Enlarged prostate .
The modality of treatment in enlarged prostate depends upon following factors.
1) Size of the prostate gland and the volume of post void urine residue detected on Ultrasound Scanning .
2) Severity of symptoms and impact of these symptoms on quality of his life.
3) Getting repeated episodes of UTI due to enlarged prostate

Continue taking medications like Tomsulosin and Dutasteride .However if there is no satisfactory improvement in his symptoms It is better to get endoscopic resection of enlarged prostate (TURP)done.This will give him permanent relief from symptoms.
