i performed oral sex on a man one week ago and thought i saw a bump on the tip of his penis. that night i developed a sore throat, and over the next few days i noticed enlarged taste buds. i went to the doctor 2 days ago, she tested me for strep and did nothing else (obviously didn t have strep). after leaving the doctor, my tongue began to tingle. the feeling moves around my tongue in different areas. could i have an std?
There are certainly sexually transmitted infections that can be transmitted to the throat- Gonorrhea and Chlamydia produce symptoms similar to strep throat and Herpes can also cause severe throat inflammation frequently accompanied by a fever. The sore throat and illness from all these diseases is pretty severe though, you would have very painful swallowing and enlarged tonsils and likely a fever. It is unlikely you have any of these conditions if you only have mild tingling in your tongue, but culturing your throat for these diseases would give you a definite answer. I hope this was helpful and good luck.
