epilepsy in a child can be due to many causes. MRI brain is a good modality to find out its cause. The child should be started on an Antiepileptic drug like tablet phenytoin(@5 mg/kg/day) or tab carbamazepine(@15mg/kg/day) if the seizure is one sided. The drug has to be continued daily for atleast 6 months seizure free. Then the drug is slowly tapered to completely stop it. Keep the child under surveillance for sometime after starting the drug. Dont leave her alone, dont send her to risky places, close to fire or water.
