Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
When a person with
epilepsy comes to my office, the first thing I do is checking the kind of medication and dose. If the dose is right for the kind of epilepsy, but the person still has complains, I can ask for the drug serum levels and then I would adjust the dose if necessary.
In your case, considering
MRI and EEG are normal, I would reevaluate the diagnosis, asking for a video EEG, and considering another condition as a
focal dystonia. I suggest to consult with a
neurologist, and if you have some pictures of before the hand deformation, or a video with the movement, take them with you. For now keep taking your epilepsy medication.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Arturo Benítez-Serrato
