Suggest Treatment For Erythema Multiforme

Hello. I recently took my son to the ER because of a rash and fever. The rash is ugly looking and spreading. His fever has not gone away and it remains around 100 and gas gone up to 101 even when taking Tylenol. They diagnosed him with erythema multiforme and gave him benydryl. That isnt helping and today is the 3rd day and it still has progressed to where his eyes are swollen. It also has a bluish tint and his hands and feet are also swollen. I am wondering if maybe they diagnosed him wrong and it is uticaria multiforme instead or something else? Thank you

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi the symptoms and signs mentioned can be angioedema or erythema multiforme
Usually angioedema is transient and is treated just like urticaria by simple antihistamines.
If it is erythema multiforme it should be thoroughly investigated to know the cause.rule out infection. drug allergy .tuberculosis. leprosy.
In my clinic I will start oral steroids like prednisone 10 mg three times daily and then taper it off within 15 days along with antibiotic and antihistamines
