Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic
Dandruff Or seborrheic dermatitis is a common cause of scalp itching and hair fall. Controlling dandruff effectively would help control itching as well as hair shedding.
I suggest you to use a ketoconazole based antidandruff shampoo. Nizoral is available OTC and you may try it. Use it every alternate days.
Seborrheic dermatitis is a steroid responsive condition therefore in my patients who have excessive dandruff I also ask them to use a topical steroid lotion e.g mometasone furoate lotion or clobetasol propioante lotion.
Topical steroids usually bring about dramatic relief within 2 weeks when I ask my patients to stop using steroid and maintain the improvement with an antidandruff shampoo.
