Suggest Treatment For Extra Growth In Nostril Causing Breathing Problems And Chest Congestion
My mother in law, aged around 58 years is suffering from chest congestion. She underwent surgery to remove extra growth of cells in her right nostril about 2 years back. She is also a thyroid patient and till 2005 was taking eltroxcin 200 mg and as advised by the doctor had stopped for a period of one month and restarted. During the one month period where she discontinued, she experienced breathing problems due to extra growth in her right nostril. From thereon she has been experiencing breathing problems and it has now grown to congestion of chest. Now she is taking eltroxcin 100 mg in a day and the following day 150 mg, as prescribed by the doctor. The phlegm/pus usually is excreted through her mouth which is causing discomfort and gets more relief when excreted through her nostrils. The doctor had advised her on diet which excludes most of the common food and she is thereby not getting proper diet. Request you to kindly revert back with a solution to the above.
It might be a polyp. If the thyroid swelling is large it will compress the trachea (windpipe) and cause breathing problems. Consult a general surgeon and get evaluated. A CT scan of the neck is required for further evaluation.
