Suggest Treatment For Extreme Bloating While On Synthroid, Metoprolol, Losartan HCZ, Wellbutrin And Atorvastatin

I work out regularly, eat reasonably well but take several prescription medicines. I have EXTREME bloating in my stomach and wonder if it is caused by one or more of my prescriptions. I take: Synthroid, Metoprolol, Losartan Hcz, welbutrin, and atorvastatin.

Hello,

1) Feeling of bloating for sometime after taking food is because of indigestion of some food and decreased intestinal movement. Majority of patients have constipation also with bloating.

2) In your case, long usage of metoprolol might be the reason for bloating by affecting post-prandial intestinal movement. Since you are taking this medicine for your primary problem, I would highly recommend not to change dosage / skip the medicine without consulting primary treating consultant / GP.

3) You can reduce the severity/ frequency of symptoms with diet modification. This includes avoidance to high fat containing food, fried food products, bakery food products and taking meals in small quantity, multiple sessions.
