Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Suggest Treatment For Extreme Pain In Hand Finger Joints And In Knees
My mom had chikungunya 2 years back. Since then she suffers from extreme pain in the hand finger joints and in the knees. Physio exercises are helpful to some extent but the pain is kind of getting transferred to other joints after exercises. Pls throw some light.
I will advice to do one RA test. To rule out any Rheumatoid factor as the pain transferring to other joints might be due to it. Also post chikungunya most people have similar complains and this is due to inflammation of the joint as the pathology of the virus affected the body.
I will advice to continue the physiotherapy exercises under guidance and later on continue same at home for daily basis as the joint inflammation can be reduced by improving the muscle strength and freedom of the joint range to avoid compression happening over the joints.
Most cases reported at my clinic are advised to follow same and they avoid the frequent bouts of pain and joint deformities.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
