I have just been diagnosed with SLK and dry eye after almost two months of extreme pain, swelling, and discharge . I am a 54 year old female. The cornea specialist whom I saw said that I probably had it for years but it is now inflamed. How do you get this condition? What would make it inflame now? I am scheduled for a treatment of silver nitrate. I would like to know more about this condition and prognosis.
I reviewed your history. It seems from the history that you are having SLK and dry eye. This is a common condition and can be treated hence no need to worry. The treatment is by use of artificial tears, steroids and silver nitrate. Systemic evaluation is required to rule out conditions like thyroid disorders and diabetes.
Hence I advice you to continue treatment asadvised by your doctor.
Hope this is helpful to you. Do write back to me for further questions. Thank you With regards
