Suggest Treatment For Fever,cough

Have low grade fever 99 - 101.6 for last 10 days, bad cough and diastolic blood pressure is 20 degrees lower than usual. Was diagnosed with bronchitis, taking penicillin (amox) for 4 days and cough syrup with no changes what so ever. Any help appreciated.

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Hello
Thanks for your query.
You need to undergo following investigations -
1. Sputum for acid fast bacilli
2. Sputum gram staining and culture
3. Spirometry with bronchodialator reversibility
4. Chest X-ray (PA view)
If you are smoker then stop smoking immediately. If you really have chronic bronchitis you need to put on appropriate inhalers. You should consult a pulmonologist soon and get yourself locally examined and go for the tests to establish the cause of cough.
Thank you.
Rregards,
Dr Arnab Maji
