Hi I was detected with Folliculitis about 1.5 years ago. I have taken oral antibiotics for 3 months and have been prescribed a steroid cream as well. Nothing helps and I noticed that the bumps get aggravated in winters. Can someone suggest an alternative cure?
I have analyzed your problem which seems to be due to harboring of bacteria on certain areas of the body from where they invade fresh areas every now and then. This condition is called a " carrier'' state.
The bacteria need to be eliminated from the sites like external nares and anogenital areas.
For such patients of mine, I prescribe Mupirocin ointment to the said areas twice a day for at least 4 weeks. In some patients I additionally provide antibiotics like Amoxy0Clav combination,Linezolid, and rarely Rifampicin an that works great.
Needless to say, it is very important to maintain good body hygiene so that you don't get these infections in the first place.
Hope you derive great benefit from the suggestions and get well soon.
Our best wishes!
