Hi my daughter has Folliculitis, her dermatlogist has said.... she has been taken anitbodics for 5-6 week. It seems not to be getting better, she is Asian very senitive skin. It is on her face, both cheeks, terrible place on her chin, under her nose, a nasty place on the calve of her leg and several places on her upper shoulder. In her job she is under alot of stress, takes anit- depressive meds and very OCD. I think the later has alot to do with it. She lives away from me and is planning to visit home in the next few weeks, I m afraid this is going to leave terrible scars, she had done research on this as well... she says sometimes you have it all your life
Hi there,I will suggest the best possible treatment options.
First of all do not panic. She needs physical and mental support. You will be the best person to do so.
In addition to antibiotic treatment, I will suggest to get culture and sensitivity test done for the secretion from folliculitis lesion to know the most suitable antibiotic. Along with that please start her on multi vitamins and multi minerals supplements and vitamin C and E supplements. Let her opt for a healthy diet and regular exercise regimen. Include more portions of fruits and vegetables and salads in daily diet. Avoid refined sugars and deep fried foods and bakery products in the diet. Drink plenty of water.
I hope this helps you. Thanks Dr. Purushottam Neurgaonkar
