Hi there, about 75 minutes ago, I believe I swallowed part of an orange that is stuck in my windpipe. I have been coughing but nothing has come out. I can breathe but feel like something is in there. My voice is now hoarse and I am not sure what to do to try to dislodge the orange. What should I do? Do I need to see a doctor today? Thank you, Amy
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of food stuck in throat due to food which seems to be due to due to granular pharyngitis or upper respiratory tract infection. It could be due to foreign body entrapment. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to avoid eating and drinking acidic , spicy and hot food and beverages . Do warm saline gargles. . If condition doesn't get better in 2-3 days then consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis and go for swab test. Go for sputum test as well if required and start treatment as per proper diagnosis. Sip warm water after every few minutes. Doctor may also examine with laryngoscope to rule out any foreign substance of food particle . Doctor may remove if there is anything surgically under local anesthesia .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
