Hi Doctor. My son is just 7 months old. He is a caeserian baby and he had no complications during his birth. He was under oxygen for only 15 mins after he was born. From birth, he is unable to have proper vision. His eye balls move left to right quite frequently and he is unable to focus on one thing, specially he is unable to look straight. His tendency is to either look up or down. Having said that, he can see things and also responsds to the same by trying to hold a toy or any object that is shown to him from close quarters. I have consulted quite a few doctors including a paediatric Opthalmologist, who has given his final verdict that my child has got Foveal Hypoplasia and this is incurable. Am at loss and unable to think what needs to be done and what is the remedy for this. Sir, Am seeking your kind help in this regard.
problem is related to develop ment of retina. giving more oxygen and less oxygen can create problem of retinopathy of prematurity. now ophthalmologist has to examine the baby regularly and monitor. Baby may improve or other serious problem like coloboma of retina foveal hypo platia up to retinal detachment can occur. In that case surgical inter fearance may be required. In your case baby is to be reviewed frequently.
