I just had an mri of my left knee. I fell on it 9 days ago. i have a nondisplaced, nondepressed fracture of the posterior lateral tibial plateauwith marked extensive bone marrow edema and bony contusion. A torn ACl with a few tenuous fibers intact per the mri report. worsening, grade 2 sprain of the medial collateral ligament complex. unchanged tear of the posterior horn of the medial and lateral menisci. Small to moderate size joint effusion with synovitis. no evidence of hemarthrosis. prepatellar bursitis, mild infrapatellar bursitis. mild to moderate degenerative osteoarthritic changes with articular cartilage loss and osteophytic spurring. Do I need surgery?
Hi Welcome to healhcaremagic After going through your query I concluded that you got undisplaced fracture of tibial spine with acl tear. I think you may not require operation at present because at this stage you require plaster treatment first to heel the undisplaced fracture. After fracture union you may require surgery for ACL reconstruction. However treatment varies from doctor to doctor. You can discuss with your Doctor about it. Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then please don't hesitate to write to us. I will be happy to help you. Wishing you a good health. Take care.
