I looked up something on the internet a few years ago that seemed to explain what I have - I searched on 'bronze mottled pigmentation' or maybe hyper pigmentation - I can't really remember. I found information then but nothing I find now matches it.
I have what look like freckles on my feet and legs that started out as several and now they are almost all touching. I can tell that it has something to do with my feet and ankles swelling because it will actually get lighter in areas where my shoes keep my feet from swelling - The pattern changes if I wear the same pair of sandles for a while or if I switch to lace up shoes.
I was a sun worshiper as a jr high and high school student tapering off about age 20 and not much after 25. I would get a little pink at the beginning of summer but rarely burned - especially after getting a base tan. I am 52 now. I mentioned the tanning because up until recently the spots weren't any darker than the tans I used to get but now they are a little darker but they don't look like moles or the age spots I am getting on my hands. They don't itch or flake or anything - but people do ask me what is wrong with my legs sometimes.
