Suggest Treatment For Frequent Urination Due To Prostate Enlargement
Dear Dr. Choudhury,
I am writing this letter on behalf of my father. He is 65 years old and a doctor by profession(General Practioner).
Recently he is suffering from irregular urination and has to go to the bathroom 8 - 10 times at night.
He has consulted a urologist and he is suspecting prostate enlargement. However, he is under medication and is under observation for 15 days. If the medicines does not work, I am planning to take him to CMC Vellore. In this regard I seek your suggestion.
Two years back my father had undergone a by pass surgery in CMC Vellore and we are anyways going there for a check up. Can you tell me who is the consultant there and should I wait for 15 days or take my father as soon as possible?
Your suggestions will be highly appreciate
Best Regards,
Raktim
Since your father is a doctor himself, he should have the best knowledge about his case and the quality of doctors consulted. As long as he can pee normally, there should not be any imminent danger. But if the urethra is blocked by the prostate so that he cannot urinate anymore, he needs emergency treatment!
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Alexander Davis, General & Family Physician
