Suggest Treatment For Frequent Vomiting And Nausea Leading To Dehydration
I keep getting constant nausea, and vomiting, resulting in dehydration. I have been admitted to the hospital several times when this happens, and they always find that my potassium is severely low. What should I do to keep this vomiting from happening, when it starts it stays for 4 or 5 days.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted your history of constant nausea and vomiting resulting in dehydration, admissions to hospital several times getting the potassium level very low and when this is happening it continues for 4-5 days. Wants to know what should be done to keep this from happening. I would suggest you the following with reasoning: Since this is cyclic vomiting you need the following: Upper GI endoscopy. CT scan of the brain as there may be something in the brain that can cause such nausea and vomiting. Ultrasonography of the abdomen followed by CT scan of the abdomen if any positive findings. Upper GI Endoscopy. The low potassium is due to loss in the vomiting as the stomach gives out potassium. Once the cause if found, it is easy to get the proper treatment to get the permanent results.
