Suggest Treatment For Full Thickness Cartilage Loss Along The Entire Glenoid
I had an MRI and the results indicate full thickness cartiledge loss along the entire glenoid and the medial portion of the numeral head.with a small amount cartiledge remaining along the superior numeral head. Please tell me I don t need a new shoulder and that so,etching else can be done to help me.
I have studied your case. Full thickness cartilage loss along glenoid along with humerus head can be treated with two methods. 1. Autologus chondrocyte implantation - this procedure is used when this cartilage loss is in young patient and there is no other shoulder problem. in this cartilage is applied on the defect. 2. Shoulder replacement - This is done when along with cartilage damage there is soft tissue damage or age is above 50. so you can discuss these options with your doctor and than we can plan accordingly. I hope this answers your query. Let me know if there is any other followup questions. Thanks
