Thank you for query.herpes genitalis is known for recurrence.When active lesions are there then you can take oral acyclovir 200 mg 5 times a day for 5-7 days.Usually the severity and number decrease as days pass by.When no lesions are present to prevent recurrence acyclovir 400mg daily can be taken to prevent recurrence for a period of 6 -12 months under supervision of doctor.You can get back for any clarifications.Dr Bharatesh
