Hello,
You haven't mentioned the results of your oral glucose tolerance test. This is the best single test to confirm the diagnosis of diabetes. 5.3 mmol/L is only marginally higher than normal (for a pregnant woman) but you also need to check glucose levels one hour after breakfast. Morning measurements are the most important of the day.
Some noon and evening measurements would be required as well.
If your doctor diagnosed diabetes then help your baby by following instructions. Having high blood sugar does harm to the baby and makes delivery harder for both of you.
I'll be glad to comment on your results, if you'd let me know.
Feel free to ask again if you'd like.
Best wishes for you and your baby!
