dear doctor im a pilipina wants to help my mother about her problem she have goiter or tairoid pls help me i no have lots of money im so sad to see my mother sufer of this kind of elness im sorry if my english is poor but i hope youll understand my mother is 65 years old i dont know what im going to do

Hi welcome to HCM....

I can understand your concern....

But see goiter means enlarge thyroid gland ...
I want to rule out cause for that based on which treatment decided ....

If you are using uniodized salt than goiter can occur ...
So iodized salt taken in cooking meal...
If needed iodine food supplement also available ....

K..If iodine deficiency not there investigate with ......
-serum tsh , t4
-USG scan

If hypothyroidism : levothyroxine used
If hyperthyroid : PTU or radioactive iodine

And dear treatment also depend on examination and symptom ..
If you have breathing difficulty or dysphagia than surgical removal necessary .....

FNAC will also be useful.....

Take care ....

Advise : consult endocrinologist
