Hi,I am Dr. Robert Galamaga (Hematologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
About 20 years ago I was diagnosed with Graves Disease. Had heart palpitations, bulging eyes, enlarged gland. I took ptu for about two years came off the medication and remained in the normal range since that time. Was on the high end of normal but within range. I just had a TSH done and the dr now says my level is 15.9 and I need thyroid replacement medication. What would cause this? Should I request that my levels be retested? What is my best course of action?
Thats a strange thing either you were missndiagnosed may be you had hashimoto.s thyroiditis in which 1st pevels go up as storage follicles break andnrelease stored hormone in blood n then thyroid hormone decreases and tsh goes sky highmmmi guess you should discuss with your doc and ask a proper exppanation of what happened then get medicated .... dont worry on a thyroid pill you can lead a normal life but first lets find out what it is or what is actually was ..
Hope that answered your question if you have any other questions feel free to ask
