Good morning, I am a 39 yr old female, I got out of hospital last week. The doctors think I was suffering from Guillen Barr syndrome, My symptoms were very like a stroke.I was in intensive care and my lungs collapsed.I was in hospital for 3 weeks but even although I can walk etc, my eye is still fuzzy and I generally do not feel well.
guillain barre syndrome ia a neurological emergency and if not treated timely, can progress to involve respiratory and bulbar muscles too. The recommended treatment in acute stage is i.v. immunoglibulin. Another option is Plasmapharesis. These are used to removed antibodies from blood circulation. Along with it, good nursing care and physiotherapy is integral part of management in such cases.
