Hi, My name is Allan McDaniel, son and POA for my mother, Margaret McDaniel [DOB 03-17-1921]. Mom has an appointment on 08-11-2014 with Dr. Karl Wolf @ Manteca Medical Group However, when mom fell in her apartment on 07-02-2014 and fractured her left wrist, it seemed to take a lot out of her. At 93 she had been getting along by herself very well. Now she had been going through bad dreams and hallucinations that make her think she is loosing her mind. We went through the same symptoms Dec 2012 and Jan-Feb of 2013. After many tests while in Doctors Hospital of Manteca, she was diagnosed with low blood sodium count and Dr. Wolf thought maybe this was the cause of the anxieties mom faced. Last week we did another blood test and her hypertension level was okay per Dr. Wolf. Any ideas that can help pinpoint moms bad dreams?
have the serum electrolytes level done again now? if earlier the problem was due to low serum sodium level then her serum electrolytes need to be done so that if again the problem is sodium then it can be corrected. but in normal circumstances hallucinations are not caused by low serum sodium levels. I would suggest following things: > take very good and affection care. at this stage parents require extra attention. > benzodiazepine can help to reduce hallucinations and anxiety but you need a prescription for it. > make sure someone is always with her to take care.
hope this answers your question. if you have any else query then I'll be happy to assist further. wishing her good health.
