Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
I have studied your case and I want to tell you that there is no role of ice after 48 hours of injury. I think you are having collection of blood in subcuataneous tissue. This looks like a knot. It is going to resolve by its own. If you found that it is not decreasing in four to five days than i would recommend you to apply hot water fomentation. You also need to take oral antibiotics after discussing with your doctor. Also apply a compression bandage. This will prevent any infection and also cause swelling to resolve faster.
Some time a needle aspiration is needed.
I hope this answer will be useful for you. Let me know if there is any followup questions.
thanks.
