Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood your concerns.
Irregular bowel movements in spite of laxatives and feeling like not finished yet after passing stool is indicative of some inflammatory process in the large bowel, particularly the descending and
sigmoid colon and the rectum called as procto-
colitis. T
This can be diagnosed by the following:
Stool tests for three consecutive days.
Tests of blood and urine.
X-ray of the abdomen in standing position to see for fecoliths and any other condition like bowel obstruction, the partial can cause similar symptoms.
This will help to get a proper diagnosis and a plan of management which can be in the form of an antibiotic, anti-inflammatory medications, laxatives to be continued.
If this is not sufficient for relief, you will need the further investigations like a
CT scan of the abdomen and
colonoscopy with biopsy to get accurate diagnosis and a plan for treatment.
You may need to have a proper observation for the foods and beverages that instigate or enhance the problems and to stop them altogether.
Patients with procto-colitis may be most affected by a stress and
anxiety hence needing to following the advise of your Doctors to get further evaluation and management.
