Suggest Treatment For Hcv And Chronic Liver Disease

my brother has hcv and chronic liver disease. He is in a county jail in orange county california and they're not reating him with anything but diuretics. Has viral load of 2,580,000, has twice gained 20+ lbs edema with ascites, platelets @ 43 etc. I can't figure out which ond of the documents are the results of the ultrasound done 3 months ago. They're acting like it's no big deal and he's been waiting for a GI consult for over two months. Is there anywhere i can send his record for an evaluation to explain exactly what stage he's at and if riba/inf/tele is an option? They mention words like cirrhosis and decomsated liver disease and that just sound like it's something that keeping being put off indefinitely just because they don't want to treat him in a county jail. thank you. april warfield 714-402-2232

Unfortunately hepatitis C treatment is very complicated and must be done by a gastroenterologist. He may even need a liver biopsy. If you could get his records to a gastroenterologist they may have some suggestions for possible treatments. Also if he already has cirrhosis then treating the hepatitis C may not be helpful. I hope he gets to see GI soon.
