Suggest Treatment For Headache Around Eyes

I have been having headaches for about a week. They seem to be around the eyes and the back of the head. They last about 2 to three hours and get very painful for a short period of that span of time. Are these symptoms of a tension headache and what are the remedies? Jerry

Hi Jerry,
I understand your concern.Though the site of headache(at the back of head) is typical for tension headache but retro-orbital pains along with headache in episodes of 2-3 hours of duration is in more favour of 'migraine'.Other features associated with 'migraine' are nausea, photophobia(headache increase on exposure to light),phonophobia(headache increase on exposure to sound),visual aura(seeing flashing zig-zag lights during the episode) and migraine headache is usually precipitated by a trigger factor(like stress, sunlight, smoking, alcohol or any food item). Please visit your physician so that he can start a trial of anti-migraine medicines.I hope it helps.
