Hello, Your symptoms suggest delayed healing or a dry socket from your recent oral surgery. Antibiotics and placement of medication, after cleaning out or curettage to the extraction socket by your dentist or oral surgeon is needed. You can expect some discomfort with normal healing, but after three weeks, you should not need prescription pain medication. You should continue to vigorously rinse the area well. Do not let anything get caught in the sockets. The bad taste indicates an infection. Numbness can be due to pressure from inflammation. If you never had full sensation of the tongue return after surgery, this can be parasthesia. Often, with time, and less inflammation, you will regain normal sensation. Healing must occur from the blood clot forming properly and undisturbed to the top. Depending on the difficulty of the surgery, bone can be removed to access the teeth for removal. Healing can be a slow process, but you should be improving function. Complications can result. Please consult your dentist. Anti-inflammatory medication can be taken. Your medical history, medications and details of additional surgery should be reviewed. Thank you for your inquiry.
