Suggest Treatment For Headache

If you have headaches every day, some worse than others, and the neurologist looks at the results of an CT scan and doesn t see anything that s causing it. He takes a red pill at night so he can get some sleep, and takes Aleve, I think, in the daytime. Should he find another neurologist?

Neurologist 's  Response
Hi,

It is a little unclear how many times has the neurologist been consulted. If the current neurologist has been consulted several times and he isn't offering anything new for the persisting symptoms then yes, getting a second opinion may be considered.

If on the other hand, you haven't discussed the fact the medication is not working with him, then I think you should. There are many different medications for headache prevention, some are more effective for certain patients than others.

So maybe if you discuss things with him the current neurologist may make a change in therapy which may actually work better.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
