Suggest Treatment For Headache,neck Pain

Hi, I am a 61 year old women, I weigh 138 lbs. I am 5 feet high. I am having some unusual systems and I don t understand what s happening to me. Seven years ago I had a aneurysm and a stroke and I had to have coiling done on the left side of my brain. I am having headaches, a pain in the back part of my neck, pain in my shoulders, pain in my back. I am also having a weakness about standing for long lengths of time. I have gone to see my Doctor on Tuesday of last week, who took some blood work and recommended that I see a neurologist and cardiologist. I tried to make an appointment with my neurologist but he moved to Chicago and the next appointment I could get from the referral was November 1st. What can I do? Please help me!!!

Hello!

Thank you for your question on HCM!

I understand your concern and would explain that your symptoms may be related to a cervical column disorder (a slipped disk or degenerative changes), which lead to muscular contractions from inflammation and pain.

I recommend consulting with your GP for a careful physical examination, a resting ECG, a cervico-thoracic column x ray, a chest x ray study and some blood lab tests :

-complete blood count
-PCR, Sedimentation rate
-blood electrolytes, including calcium
-kidney and liver function tests (for your chronic fatigue).

A cervical spine MRI may be needed if suspicions of the disorder in this region are raised.

Regarding your coiled aneurysm, it doesn't seem to be related to this clinical scenario. Anyway, a careful physical examination and a periodic brain MRI is needed to exclude possible evolution of the coiled aneurysm (rare complications).

Hope to have been helpful!

Best wishes,
Dr. Aida
