Suggest Treatment For Hearing Problems

My 93 yr old mother says that she hears music. She thinks that it comes from a recently purchased 40inch HD LD Magnavox 1080p TV. When the TV is turned off, she says that she hears this Christmas music -she hums the melody to me. She did have a bump on her head about a month ago- she fell against a table in her apartment-she didn t pass out but did see stars. Could that somehow be allowing her to be experiencing these sounds. I have suggested that we call her primary dr to have her go to her for an appt. but she is reluctant to do that. What should I do? PS she is deaf in one ear and very hearing impaired in the other-she does not wear hearing aids because she says that they do not help her hear people speaking.

ENT Specialist 's  Response
She should get a pure tone audiometry done, which most likely will show that she is having sensory neural deafness. This should be followed by good quality hearing aid trial and fitting.
