Suggest Treatment For Heart Palpitations With Cough
Hello I have had a double heart bypass approx 3 years ago..I still suffer angina but recently I have been having heart palpitations which cause me to cough. I have also been getting puffed very easily. I am not sure whether this is significant or not.
Hi welcome to HCM. Heart palpitations if left untreated can lead to congestive heart failure. This can lead to enlargement of the left atrium pressing on the laryngeal nerves causing irritable cough. Also fluid accumulation can lead to puffiness of the skin.I advice you to have a baseline EKG and screening 2 dimensional echo to assess the cardiac reserve.Drugs like diuretics and inotropes are the main stay of treatment.Beta blockers can control the heart rate and palpitations.Consult your cardiologist for further query. Thank you
