For about a week now it feels as if a elephant is standing on my chest, and someone else is squeezing my heart. It is not very painful at all, but is very uncomfortable and feels as if I have trouble breathing at times and slightly weak. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. Heaviness in chest with breathing difficulty are commonly seen with heart add lung diseases. Heart diseases like coronary artery disease (CAD) and heart failure can cause these symptoms. Lung diseases like bronchitis can also cause similar symptoms. So consult doctor and get done 1. Blood pressure monitoring, ecg, 2d echo to rule out heart diseases. 2. Chest x ray and PFT (pulmonary function test) to rule out lung pathology. You may need inhaled bronchodilator, inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) and cardiac supportive drugs on the basis of above reports. Don't worry, you will be alright. First diagnose yourself and then start appropriate treatment. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
