Suggest Treatment For Heavy And Irregular Periods Along With Stomach Cramps

I think I may have Endometriosis, or some other issue. I am an 18 year old female, I have always had very heavy, irregular periods. I am not sexually active, and my mom had Endometriosis. Two cycles ago, there were only 2 weeks between my periods, but this last cycle had 4.5 weeks between. For the past three weeks I have had painful cramping on both sides of my stomach (alternating), to the point of it making me nauseous. It is weird because I typically only cramp on the first day of my period, and NEVER more than that. But this month, I know something is definitely wrong. I have been cramping between periods. Could I Have Endo? If not, what else could I potentially have?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

According to your age and symptoms the possible cause are : hormonal imbalance leading to excessive bleeding with small cervical OSwhich can lead to dysmenorrhea. Local causes like endometriosis rarely uterine fibroids. The possibility of pelvic inflammatory disease is less in your case as you are not sexually active. As you are having severe bleeding with increased frequency and dysmenorrhea you better to consult your gynecologist once get examined and undergo ultrasound and also you may need blood test like hemoglobin levels and thyroid profile. According to all these things the possible cause of your problem can be identified and treatment can be taken accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
