Have been suffering with heavy clotting/bleeding and periord starting 14 days early. Dr ordered ultrasound and was discovered my endometrium wall is 14mm which he said is very thick. I also have a fibroid 4cm on the top of my uterus as well as a 2cm cyst on my right ovary. I am 40 years old and done having children. Dr is recommending a hysteroscopy dnc. If that doesn t work for the fibroid than to do a myomectomy. I am thinking if the hysteroscopy dnc doesn t work to go to a hysterectomy. Thoughts?
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Heavy and irregular bleeding can be due to fibroid with associated endometrial thickening. I.N such conditions, the endometrial biopsy should be done to rule out any endometrial carcinoma or hyperplasia, as these conditions should be managed accordingly. I would suggest you to undergo hysteroscopic biopsy and further management should be done accordingly, whether medical management or hysterectomy is appropriate. Hope you found the answer helpful. Wishing you good health. Dr Deepti Verma
