I have a condition called haemachromatosis, (sp) today I have a venasection which is the usual treatment, I was leaving the hospital when I passed out. my bp on arrival back to haematology was 120/72 checked again 20 mins later it was 86/65 after a few glasses of water it was 84/64. Is this normal?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Venesection is the usual treatment for hemachromatosis. Venesection involves removal of blood from vein. Removal of blood from body can lead to fall in blood pressure. Thus, this is the most probable cause of fall in blood pressure. Drinking few glasses of water increases the volume of fluid and thus it will not cause fall in blood pressure. Drinking plenty of water can cause rise in blood pressure for short interval.
