thanks for contacting HCM. your doctor is much too young to develop hypertension but now a days we are seeing more and more children getting affected with hypertension and diabetes. As your daughter is having high BP she needs to be put on medication. Please get in touch with your doctor and get her started on medication, atenolol would be a good choice.
Also try following measures-
1. If she is obese help her develop a regimen of diet and exercise to loose weight as loosing weight may get her off the medication.
2. get her investigated for diabetes and hypothyroidism, and start treatment for them if found positive.
3. Avoid giving her fried, starchy, sugary, junk and fast foods.
4. reduce her dietary intake of salt and salty foods like Chinese food, pickled and other foods using salts as preservatives.
5. give her lots if fresh fruits, vegetables and salads.
6. Use olive oil for cooking.
7. Fix her sleeping time, she should sleep for at least 7-8 in night.
8. Does she snore while sleeping?, if yes get her investigated for sleep apnea as sleep apnea can precipitate hypertension.
9. Increase her activity level, more walking, more trips in neighborhood on bicycle or foot. She should perform any aerobic activity for at least 40 mins a day.
10. Get her into meditation. There are different types of meditations, find out what type suits her and help her practice it daily.
