Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My blood pressure was 161/106 on Monday at one Dr s office.I called my primary Dr and he prescribed blood pressure medicine. I just checked my blood pressure at Rite Aid and it was 119/83.When my pressure was high I was having back problems, now I m better.I have never had bad blood pressure before. Should I continue to take the medicine? I go to Dr. Next Monday.
Dear you was diagnosed with hypertension with BP of 161/109.you was given some antihypertensive now your blood pressure is well within normal limit.in my view you should continue that medicine . If your bp falls further down 100/6 or below then you must consult your doctor for decreasing dose of medicine or stopping it as required . Before making diagnosis of hypertension it is important that your blood pressure should be recorded at least 3 times over period of 1 weeks.if it is found raised on different occasion then drug therapy should be started . But in your case it's was definitely on higher side so your physician started treatment . Now it is very well controlled . So you should continue with the treatment with frequent monitoring of blood pressure . Hope this will help.
